Always be yourself
You are uniquely made for a reason

Holly Jolly Tag

I wasn’t planning to do any posts relating to Christmas because I didn't really have any content to write about but I got tagged by Brittany from Mind.Beauty.Simplicity to answer some holiday questions. It seems like fun so I’m gonna give it a go. A bit of background info, not trying to be too depressing sounding because Christmas is a wonderful time for many people. In a previous post, I expressed the loss of my mom when I was 14 and also her birthday is the 22nd of December, a few days before Christmas. Christmas hasn’t been the same to me for a while, for a few years I would treat it as a regular day. As I get older, I’m slowly coming out of being a little grinch, a work in progress but now my family and I would just have a simple Christmas dinner, no decorations or anything like that. Sounds a bit boring but it’s been working for us and also, I know my mom would want us to at least have a nice dinner on Christmas because she used to go allllll out when it came to cooking for the day hehe. I still have experience with the holidays obviously so I’m gonna answer these questions to the best of my ability.

What is your favourite holiday movie?

This might be really bad to say but I don’t really have a favourite holiday movie when I was younger, I was obsessed with the Christmas specials for the cartoons I used to watch hehe, especially the Spongebob one because I enjoyed the songs in it.

What is your favourite Christmas colour?

My favourite is white 🤍.

Do you like to stay in your PJs or dress up for Christmas?

Definitely PJs…..I’ve dressed up before but I like the comfort of my PJs.

If you could only buy one person a present this year, who would it be?

That would be my dad, he’s the person I can lean on, definitely deserves it.

Do you open your presents on Christmas Eve or Christmas morning?

Christmas morning, I didn’t even know people did it on Christmas eve. When I was younger, I would be ‘Santa’s helper’. We would eat breakfast then I would put on my Santa hat, I would give out everyone’s presents then we all open them together. One of my favourite memories from when I was younger.

Have you ever built a gingerbread house?

No, actually haven’t. It’s not really in Jamaican culture, I’m pretty sure there are a few people who do it here in Jamaica but it’s not popular.

What do you like to do on your Christmas break?

Relaxing, not touching any school-related things...I literally pack up all my school stuff and put it to the side. Catch up on some Netflix series and spend hours playing the sims 4 hehe.

Any Christmas wishes?

For the rest of the year to go well and next year can be soooo much better.

Favourite Christmas smell?

The smell of Christmas dinner being made hehe.

Favourite Christmas meal or treat?

I love all food so I can't really pick, it's all too good.

Which holiday do you celebrate?

Christmas.

What are you doing for the holidays this year?

Spending time with my family and relaxing after a hectic school semester.

What’s your favourite holiday drink?

I don’t really have one but a favourite holiday drink in jamaica is definitely sorrel, a drink made with a hibiscus flower and other ingredients.

Candy cane or gingerbread men?

Has to be candy canes.

What’s your favourite holiday/Christmas song?

Maybe a bit basic but Mariah Carey - All I want for Christmas, it’s a timeless hit and when I hear it, I know Christmas time has started.

What’s the weirdest gift you’ve ever received?

I don’t think I've received a weird gift but I've definitely gotten some gifts like clothes that I didn't like and I just had to accept them.

Have you ever made a snowman?

No, I haven’t, I had experienced snow before though. I have some family up in England and I remember being in the snow, I made snowballs and my brother and I threw them at each other.

What is your favourite winter fragrance?

I don’t have one actually, don’t have winter in Jamaica so 🤷🏽‍♀️.

What is at the top of your list this Christmas? (or whichever holiday you celebrate!)

I actually don’t have a list this year, I’m just grateful to make it through this year and feeling the best I’ve felt in a while.

What is most important to you about the holidays?

Spending time with the ones you love, taking time to reflect on the year and just having a relaxing time during the holidays.

This was interesting to do, it was nice to remember the good times of Christmas when I was younger. I've been in the best mindset since the whole year started. Not sure how Christmas gonna be for me this year but from the looks of it, the year will end great for me and I hope Christmas or any holiday you celebrate will be great for you.
